Spanish infrastructure firm Ferrovial inked a deal to sell its entire 25% stake in the U.K.’s busiest airport, Heathrow, for £2.37 billion. The airport’s passenger volume recently surpassing pre-pandemic levels. However, the airport is currently unprofitable. FGP Topco is the parent company of Heathrow Airport Holdings Ltd.
Ardian is taking a 15% ownership stake in the airport deal, while Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is taking a 10% stake. Ferrovial started slowly selling off its Heathrow position since acquiring a 56% stake in 2006.
Ferrovial sold some stakes to other parties including the Qatar Investment Authority in 2012 and a U.K. pension investor in 2013.
